I'm cleaning off my desk today and found the following quote:
"It is not a bad thing to have a house that shows it has been lived in for some time, and that they occoupants have enjoyed their stay."
Honestly, I strive to have a house that has that lived in look. I think it makes it cozier. Items collected here and there, not always perfect, scratches on the floor from where the kids drove their Matchbox cars, faint stains on the carpet as testament to hot chocolate enjoyed in front of the fire, a little cat hair, piles of books yet to be read, the lingering odor of baked muffins... To me these all show that a family lives in this place, not merely exists.
